Oreo cupcakes

Oreo cupcakes


  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crushed Oreos (about 10-12 Oreos)
  • 12 whole Oreos for decoration
  • Whipped Cream or Buttercream Frosting (optional)
  • Additional 6-8 Oreos for decorating on cream (optional)


  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners and set aside.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. In a separate mixing bowl, beat the eggs until lightly beaten. Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, and whisk until well combined.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  5. Fold in the crushed Oreos until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

  6. Divide the batter evenly among the paper liners, filling each one about 3/4 full.

  7. Place a whole Oreo on top of each cupcake, pressing it down slightly into the batter.

  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

  9. Let the cupcakes cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. Decorate the cupcakes with whipped cream and additional crushed Oreos or buttercream frosting, if desired. Enjoy!
